YEAST RAISED DOUGHNUTS RECIPE

  INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 C. milk, scalded & cooled 1/2 C. shortening 1 cake yeast or 3 pkgs. dry yeast 1 C. sugar 4 C. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs, beaten

DIRECTIONS:

Dissolve yeast in milk.
Use half of flour and 2 tablespoons of sugar, mix in batter and let rise.
Add beaten eggs and rest of sugar and flour.
Beat well, knead.
Let rise about 1 hour.
Roll out and cut into shapes, let rise again.
Drop into hot fat and fry until golden brown.
Roll in sugar and cinnamon or make a glaze.
