GRANDMA ROSES CHRISTMAS EVE BREAKFAST CAKE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS: 1 C. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 C. sugar 1/2 C. hot milk 1 Tbsp. butter 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla TOPPING: 1/4 C. butter 2 Tbsp. cream 2/3 C. brown sugar 1 C. walnuts DIRECTIONS: Sift first 3 ingredients. Beat eggs until thick, 5 minutes. Add granulated sugar slowly, continuing to beat. Stir in vanilla, then dry ingredients. Quickly stir in hot milk, 1 tablespoon butter. Pour in pan, bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Meanwhile, work 1/4 cup butter and cream until creamy. Add brown sugar, nuts. Spread nut mixture on top of cake when done. Broil until golden brown.
