BROCCOLI WITH HAM AND CHEESE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:
1 large bunch broccoli
boiling salted water
1/2 C. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/3 C. finely diced or ground ham
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 C. freshly grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS:
Trim the broccoli and separate into stalks. Wash and drain. Cook by placing stalks in boiling salted water so that the flower part is upright and will steam. Cover and cook for 10 or 15 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain broccoli and place in a heatproof casserole or serving dish. Heat the oil and sauté the garlic in it for a minute or two without browning. Stir in the lemon juice, oregano, ham, salt and pepper. Pour ham mixture over the broccoli, sprinkle with the cheese and brown briefly under a preheated broiler. Serves 6.
